New Mix: 15 Tracks, 69 Minutes

I am very happy to share a new DJ mix after not having done so in quite a long while. Many of these tracks are very new, just released in the past couple of months, so I hope that it sounds fresh and inspiring. One caveat, I am a bit of a perfectionist and I can hear a couple smudges and not completely clean mixes, please forgive this as the current monitors at home don't work well for me. When I have a chance I will add the track listing to this page.

I hope you enjoy what you hear. Your feedback is most welcome. Also, I love to share the music that moves me with inspired and enthusiastic dancefloors, so if you attend or organize parties, please help me in getting the word out. I can be contacted at ' daniel at/ lickthedj.com '.

Epiphany of Sound (Live Radio Set 12/15/05)

This is a recording of a live set played on "An Ephiphany of Sound" (the radio show on 90.1FM KZSU hosted by J.C.). It is a fairly big file, about 200Mb, but it is 2 hours and 20 minutes long.

Special thanks go to J.C. for having me as a guest DJ and also for getting the digital file to me so I could put it here.

Is This Progressive?

"What is the 'progressive' sound?" was a question posed recently to an email list that I am on. I recorded this mix as, more or less, one of my possible answers to that question. Or perhaps instead of an answer it is a possible extension of the question. So, is this mix 'progressive'? Leave a comment or email me with your answer.

In addition, I would like to know if you like the mix. Please give me your feedback. I have not spent any time mastering it per se; I haven't fixed the levels and I converted it to a lower mp3 bit rate than usual. If there is sufficient interest or demand I will spend some time cleaning up the mix, fixing levels, etc. and make the mix available at a higher bit rate and on CD. If you want a copy on CD, let me know. Leave a comment below or email me: dan at lickthedj.com (make "at" an @ symbol of course).

Does "progressive" mean or imply crappy? Is this a mix of crappy music? Is this a mix of good music? Is this a mix of progressive music?
